Bandstand: Sunday 30 July
With a reputation for storming, attention grabbing, explosive live sets. We give you Dr.X! With echo’s of The Black Keys, Seasick Steve and Muddy Waters, Dr.X are still distinguishable by their self penned earthy and rootsy music. Playing loud, lowdown and dirty, this unlikely pair mix up nu blues and country punk on pre-unloved, vintage and homemade / junkyard instruments.
Formed in late 2012, both members have collaborated their long standing live experience to produce a blistering and dynamic wall of sound. Dr.X showcase raw, unassuming talent, combining Reeves’ octave leaping, contrasting vocals and Pridmore’s inventive and cross genre style of percussion. The pair lay down bare anecdotes that leave influenced audiences with a cathartic feel delivered by a true narrator.
With an imminent EP release on Essential Bleech records, Dr.X are set to tour the UK throughout 2017 with some heavyweight festival appearances already lined up.
‘The material is a hand-built breed of Nu Blues and Punk Folk, welding together riffs and rhythms so rooted you can smell the dirt, so heated you can feel the amps over-cooking, so driven you can taste the sweat on the frets. Add a bucketful of social comment and Markus Reeves the Rev Pridmore are cooking up a heady platter on full gas’ Dave Collins of Radio Podrophenia and writer for Vive Le Rock, The Word and Plectrum The Cultural Pick.
