Formed in May 2012, The Ruby Doos were brought together by their mutual love of great songs and classic close harmony singing. We are now a four piece band, featuring lead/harmony vocalists Sarah Rawson and Annie Smith, accompanied by Steve Burton on acoustic and Danelectro guitars, banjo, bass and vocals and Neil Cadwallader on bass, mandolin, acoustic guitars and vocals.
We play contemporary Americana with a retro twist plus a few classics from early bluegrass to the songwriter gems of alt country. The retro feel is carried on in our choice of stage clothes – an excuse for Sarah and Annie to indulge in vintage dress shopping expeditions.
In 2016 we released our debut album, Lyin and Cryin, featuring nine self-penned songs and a couple of our favourite covers. Our musical influences are wide and varied but we all love The Secret Sisters, The Dixie Chicks, The Pistol Annies, Allison Moorer, The Civil Wars, Oh Susanna! and Caitlin Rose, among many others.
